In Fact, There is Realization

Back with another installment of this blog challenge and trying to come up with 20 facts has been a challenge for me, simply because it’s difficult finding or even understanding what my identity is. I wanted to identify things that both held value and seem to withstand the ever-present flow of my mutable nature. So, let's get into it already shall we?

For starters, (1) I’m fascinated with the moon and astronomy, but never had the urge to be an astronaut. Akin to that I am also fascinated with astrology and the comparison of its practice to my life and personality. (2) I am a Pisces sun and Gemini rising which I feel explains my duality. (3) For the longest time, I would unknowingly buy two, or double, of everything when I went grocery shopping. BOGO sales were my soulmate. (4) As I’ve mentioned I am very mutable and will adapt to most situations which makes me more of a social chameleon than a social butterfly.

(5) I’m a dreamer to a fault. I’m in my head more times than in reality. to the point that escapism, disassociation, and depersonalization can be constants in my day-to-day. (6) When I sleep I have been told I am very still and very quiet (7) The saxophone is my favorite musical instrument. I learned to play in high school but hadn’t played since. I’m determined to pick it back up this year. (8) I’m a jack of trades but a master of none. I believed early on that if another human could do something then so could I and because of that if there is something I want to be done I will attempt it first before realizing that there are more qualified individuals. (9) I’ve always wanted to be a performer, but I get tremendously anxious when I have people’s attention. I’m also very self-conscious about my voice.

(10) I absolutely love to write, mostly poetic thoughts and fantasy scenarios, but writing generally frees my mind. (11) Whether it’s love languages, foreign languages, or computer coding, I value and love exploring the extent of language and communication. (12) I love wordplay, puns, and alliteration; the more clever the better. (13) I also love puzzles, more to the fact that I love solving things. This goes along with a conversation as well, I still reflect on discussions I had with people that I feel were left undecided and will often go back to those individuals if I feel like the information I had was incorrect to find completion. (14) I prefer (well written) villains over heroes, I never cared for the protagonist much in general.

(15) I’m a Navy veteran, I’ve been to Italy, Dubai, France, and Greece. which brings me to my next fact (16) I love to travel. I am truly a nomadic individual. My longest trip was driving from Texas through the southern states to Georgia, then up the coast to DC to visit a friend. The trip was to attend Blerdcon, but also a means to visit as many people as I could along the way. (17) Even after eating a strict diet of seven portions a day while working out over a 6 month period I have yet to weigh over 180 pounds. Alternatively, I haven’t dropped below 158 since I was in high school. (18) I dislike restrictions. I love my freedoms. Having the option to choose is very important and I appreciate it wholeheartedly. I prioritize open-world games and games with customization or variety. I feel insulted when told I can’t do something. (19) In relation to the previous fact, I have a strange combination of claustrophobia and cleithrophobia. I don’t mind being in closed spaces, small rooms such as elevators or even smaller for that matter, or being trapped in a scenario where I feel as though I can’t get out, but if it gets to the point where I am unable to move I will probably start to panic. In the same fashion, I get anxious around large crowds of people. Too many people make me feel restricted which is why I do most of my grocery shopping early in the morning or late at night.

(20) Lastly, I eat a salad without dressing. I love vegetables and can eat pretty much anything raw (after it has been properly washed mind you). When I was a kid I used to eat lettuce like apples and alfalfa sprouts straight out of the container. Nowadays I’ll buy some kale, cranberries, and nuts - chop them up, throw it all in a bag and just snack on it like potato chips.

I hope this has been as informative for you all as it has been for me. I’ve meditated on the things that seem to be prominent in my lifestyle and it has encouraged me to think more about my self and what things I identify with. I highly recommend sitting down and writing out facts about yourself as well!
